What can I do with my Private Pilot Licence?
A Private Pilot Licence will allow to broaden your aviation horizons.
There is no distance limitation and you can fly just about anywhere in Australia. You can also train to fly faster, heavier and more complex aircraft including multi-engine aircraft.
Operational Ratings are also an option including Night and Instrument Ratings.
What do I need to do to get my Private Pilot Licence?
- Flight time – The minimum flying experience required is 40 hours, of which 10 hours must be solo (pilot in command) and 5 of those solo hours must be cross-country flights.
- You must be at least 17 years of age to hold an PPL.
- Theory – Before you obtain your PPL you will need to pass pre-solo exams and the CASA PPL written exam. Your instructors will guide you through this theoretical training.
- Medical – you must hold an appropriate medical certificate to fly solo as a student and to exercise the privileges of your licence.
